Wire Forms
General Data:
Wire forms are a whole different animal. Today’s computer
aided coiler can do many difficult bends which were not controllable just a
few short years ago. Proper tolerances need to be established when designing
your wire forms. Spring wire is being bent into a shape and can not be held
to machining tolerances.
Check with us during your early design stages and we'll gladly make
tolerance suggestions.
The functional design characteristics of the wire forms should be
given as mandatory specifications. Secondary characteristics, which may well
be useful for reference, should be identified as advisory data. This practice
controls the essential requirements, while providing as much design
flexibility as possible to the manufacturer meeting those requirements.
Spring Team always verifies incoming designs to
insure manufacturability and informs customers when designs are not capable
of being produced. The Spring Team has a design handbook which we will gladly
ship out to engineers to assist their spring development needs.
